Airbus Expands India Presence with 650,000 Sq Ft Global Capability Centre

Airbus has leased 650,000 sq ft in Bengaluru’s Titanium Tech Park to establish a Global Capability Centre, with a scalability of 800,000 sq ft. Valued at ₹500 crore, this 10-year lease supports Airbus’s innovation efforts in India’s booming aviation market, reinforcing its long-term commitment to the region.

Global aerospace leader Airbus has leased over 650,000 sq ft of office space in Bengaluru’s Whitefield to establish a cutting-edge Global Capability Centre (GCC). Located in Titanium Tech Park, the 10-year lease, valued at ₹500 crore, underscores Airbus’s commitment to innovation and its expanding footprint in India. The facility will focus on technology initiatives to support Airbus’s global operations.

The lease agreement includes a scalability clause, allowing Airbus to add an additional 150,000 sq ft within a year, potentially expanding the total leased space to 800,000 sq ft. With a 15% rental escalation every three years and an option to extend the tenure by five years, this deal highlights Airbus’s long-term investment in the region. “Fit-out work is set to begin soon, with rental costs increasing as additional space is formalized,” said a source close to the matter.

Airbus’s growing presence in India spans commercial aviation, defence, and aerospace manufacturing. The company already operates an engineering centre in Bengaluru and collaborates with Indian giants like Tata Advanced Systems and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). Airbus is also advancing the ‘Make in India’ initiative with its C295 aircraft programme, with the first Indian-made C295 scheduled for delivery in 2026.

India’s booming civil aviation sector has been a key driver for Airbus’s expansion. With massive aircraft orders exceeding 1,000 planes from IndiGo and Air India, the country is emerging as a vital hub for global aviation. Airbus’s investment in the GCC aligns with this growth trajectory, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of innovation in one of its most critical markets.

India’s office property market continues to thrive, bolstered by the increasing presence of GCCs and flexible office spaces. Government policies aimed at incentivizing GCCs and developing dedicated office zones are accelerating this trend, enabling global firms to scale operations across India, including in smaller towns.

As India strengthens its position as a global economic hub, Airbus’s significant investment in Bengaluru signals confidence in the country’s potential to drive aerospace innovation and meet growing aviation demands. This move not only reinforces Airbus’s leadership in the industry but also highlights India’s pivotal role in shaping the future of global aviation.
