Kerala Govt to Launch ‘Freedom Square’ in Technopark Phase IV

Kerala Startup Mission, with the state tourism department, is launching Freedom Square—a 24/7 coworking and co-creation hub near Technopark. Combining work, wellness, and culture, the five-acre campus aims to foster youth innovation, collaboration, and entrepreneurship, becoming a new model for future-ready, community-driven workspaces in India.

In a bold step toward fostering innovation and youth entrepreneurship, the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), in collaboration with the state’s tourism department, is launching ‘Freedom Square’ — a first-of-its-kind, 24/7 coworking and co-creation hub at Technopark Phase IV in Pallippuram.

The ambitious project, spread across five acres near the Digital University of Kerala, is set to come alive within the current financial year. More than just a shared office space, Freedom Square aims to be a dynamic ecosystem for students, startups, investors, and industry leaders to collaborate, innovate, and grow — day and night.

“Freedom Squares are not just buildings; they are movements,” said Ashok Kurian Panjikkaran, Business Head at KSUM. “We want to give young minds a space to brainstorm freely, build on ideas and engage directly with mentors, corporate leaders, and investors.”

Designed with a strong community focus, the facility will include coworking areas, meeting rooms, dormitories, and recreational zones, all powered by high-speed internet. The centre will also serve as a nodal hub for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centres (IEDCs) operating across Kerala’s educational institutions, creating a pipeline from campus ideas to real-world impact.

What makes Freedom Square especially unique is its integration of tourism and technology. The Department of Tourism is infusing cultural and wellness elements into the space — including a VR experience zone, amphitheatre, gaming areas, and exhibits celebrating Kerala’s heritage. Wellness offerings such as a meditation zone and a mini hospital will also be part of the setup, enhancing the well-being of its users.

By blending coworking infrastructure with cultural, recreational, and wellness experiences, Freedom Square is positioned to become a flagship model for future-ready workspaces. Its round-the-clock access is expected to attract local talent, digital nomads, and startup teams from across the country.

With a target launch by March 2026, the project reflects Kerala’s broader mission to evolve into a knowledge society. The strategic location near Technopark — India’s largest IT park — and the Digital University ensures access to talent, mentorship, and resources.

As India’s coworking landscape matures, Kerala’s Freedom Square offers a fresh, community-driven template that could influence flexible workspaces nationwide. It’s more than just desks and Wi-Fi — a space designed for co-creation, connection, and continuous inspiration.
