Morgan Stanley has opened a new one-million-square-foot office in Mumbai’s Commerz III, International Business Park, within Oberoi Garden City, consolidating its Global Center operations in India into a single, advanced campus. Designed to support over 8,500 employees, the new space combines modern amenities with sustainable and inclusive design, positioning the Firm for expanded growth and innovation in India.

The opening underscores Morgan Stanley’s strategic focus on India, as highlighted by Gokul Laroia, Asia CEO and co-head of global equities: “India’s economic growth, technological innovation, and demographic advantage make it an integral part of the Firm’s regional and global strategy.” He emphasised the significance of the Firm’s investment in cutting-edge infrastructure and resources for its Mumbai workforce, which aligns with the company’s long-term commitment to the region.

Morgan Stanley’s new Mumbai campus is purpose-built to foster collaboration and flexibility. The workspace features a dedicated lobby and reception area and amenities that provide accessibility and seamless connectivity. Supporting a variety of workstyles, the campus includes a food hall with diverse dining options, an on-site fitness centre and gym, and a comprehensive health centre that offers a pharmacy, acute care, and speciality services.

Beyond these amenities, the office reflects Morgan Stanley’s commitment to inclusion and employee wellbeing. The facility includes a full-service childcare centre for more than 100 children, wellbeing spaces on multiple floors, mother’s rooms, and multifaith rooms, creating a workplace that accommodates the diverse needs of its employees. Art installations throughout the office reflect India’s rich culture and the diversity of the local community.

Sustainability was a core focus in the design of the new campus, which aims to achieve both LEED Gold and FITWEL certifications. Sustainable measures include energy-efficient lighting, reduced water consumption, elimination of single-use plastics, and waste minimisation practices. These efforts align with Morgan Stanley’s broader sustainability objectives and reflect its dedication to reducing environmental impact.

Arun Kohli, Morgan Stanley’s country head for India, spoke about the growth of the firm’s operations in the country over the past two decades. “Our operations have grown tremendously and evolved to become a key driver of innovation and transformation. The centres are critical to creating operational efficiencies and competitiveness for the Firm,” he stated. Kohli’s remarks underscore the central role that India’s workforce plays in Morgan Stanley’s global operations.

Senior leadership attended the inauguration, including Mandell Crawley, the Firm’s chief human resources officer, and Anahita Tiwari, head of Morgan Stanley’s India global centres. This further underscored the Mumbai campus’s strategic importance to the Firm’s global initiatives.

With this modernised and sustainable facility, Morgan Stanley strengthens its operational footprint in India and reinforces its commitment to an inclusive and sustainable workplace. This new office is set to become a vital hub for Morgan Stanley’s global strategy, driven by India’s expanding role in the Firm’s regional and global plans.
