Ghaziabad’s Namo Bharat Station is launching MetroDesk, a high-tech co-working space by NCRTC. Featuring intelligent access, IoT-enabled workstations, and seamless digital services, it caters to professionals and startups. This initiative aligns with India’s booming co-working market, transforming transit hubs into business centres while enhancing accessibility and economic growth.
Ghaziabad’s Namo Bharat Station is set to introduce MetroDesk, a state-of-the-art co-working space, marking a significant step in transforming urban transit zones into vibrant business hubs. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) announced that MetroDesk will provide an innovative work environment for professionals, entrepreneurs, and small businesses in and around Ghaziabad.
Strategically located within the station’s concourse, MetroDesk will offer 42 open workstations, 11 private cabins, and two meeting rooms, accommodating up to 42 individuals and 11 businesses at a time. “Its central location within the station is designed to minimize commute times, offer easy accessibility, and enhance the overall efficiency for professionals working there,” NCRTC stated in a press release. The space will have high-speed internet and plug-and-play workstations, ensuring a seamless and productive work experience.
What sets MetroDesk apart is its advanced technological integration. The facility will feature biometric access, digital key cards, and an automated reservation system for hassle-free entry and workspace management. IoT-enabled bright lighting, climate control, and automated scheduling for meeting rooms will further enhance efficiency. Additionally, video conferencing setups, wireless screen sharing, and QR-based scan-and-use options for hot desks and vending machines will create a seamless digital experience for users.
The rising demand for flexible office solutions is evident in the rapid expansion of the co-working sector. A Cushman & Wakefield report reveals that co-working operators leased 2.24 lakh seats across major Indian cities last year, with Delhi-NCR alone accounting for 38,000 seats. According to Mordor Intelligence, India’s co-working market is projected to grow from USD 2.08 billion in 2025 to USD 2.91 billion by 2030, driven by cost efficiency, flexibility, and technology-driven infrastructure.
Co-working spaces offer a viable alternative to traditional office setups, providing startups, small businesses, and remote professionals with a cost-effective solution to access a professional workspace without the financial burden of commercial real estate. MetroDesk is poised to foster collaboration and innovation, offering networking opportunities beyond a conventional office environment.
NCRTC also leverages commercial spaces within and around Namo Bharat stations to enhance passenger amenities and generate Non-Fare Box Revenue. “Beyond providing transit services, this initiative will turn stations into business hubs, generating economic opportunities and making the Namo Bharat Corridor a model for modern urban transit,” NCRTC stated.
Currently, the Namo Bharat network operates on a 55-km stretch from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South, covering eleven stations. The 82-km corridor, including the Meerut Metro, is slated to be completed by 2025. With MetroDesk, Ghaziabad’s Namo Bharat Station is set to become a trailblazer in integrating co-working solutions within transit infrastructure, redefining the future of workspaces in India.
