UrbanWrk’s Bold Bet on the Future of Workspaces Is Redefining India’s Office Culture

UrbanWrk is reshaping India’s coworking landscape with sustainable, tech-enabled, design-forward workspaces. Led by Anuj Munot, the company has rapidly expanded across major cities, catering to hybrid and remote teams. With smart infrastructure and a human-centric approach, UrbanWrk is setting new standards for the future of flexible office spaces.

India’s coworking industry is entering a dynamic new phase, and workspace provider UrbanWrk is right at the forefront. With a strong emphasis on sustainability, innovative design, and tech integration, UrbanWrk is positioning itself as a key player in the evolving world of flexible work.

“When we started UrbanWrk, the idea was to create a space as ambitious as the people working in it,” said Anuj Munot, Co-founder and CEO. That vision is paying off. In 2024, UrbanWrk hit 15,000 seats across major Indian cities and saw a 127% year-on-year revenue growth. The company now has a presence in Pune, Delhi, Gurugram, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata—and isn’t slowing down. “We’re on track to double our revenue by FY26,” Munot added, pointing to increased enterprise demand and a growing preference for hybrid models.

UrbanWrk is not just another coworking brand. Its standout feature is its focus on biophilic, sustainable design. Offices feature abundant natural light, indoor plants at every desk, and IGBC Platinum-rated infrastructure. “Design isn’t just aesthetic; it’s strategic,” Munot explained. “We’re creating spaces that foster productivity, well-being, and human connection.”

Technology is another core pillar of UrbanWrk’s offering. Members can use the UrbanWrk app for everything from booking meeting rooms to checking into events. The app integrates facial recognition access, motion-sensor lighting, and enterprise-grade IT systems. “We’ve built a human-centred digital infrastructure that makes the workspace seamless and secure,” Munot said.

UrbanWrk also caters to the rising demand for hybrid and remote work. Its modular office layouts offer acoustic privacy, reconfigurable zones, and plug-and-play readiness. UrbanWrk provides high-quality video booths, calling pods, and digital collaboration tools for remote-first teams. “Whether you’re in the centre or working across time zones, our spaces are built to keep teams connected and productive,” he noted.

As the sector expands, the flexible workspace market is projected to grow from 80 million square feet in 2024 to 125 million by 2027, according to ICRA. UrbanWrk sees this as a significant opportunity. “Three forces will shape the next five years—enterprise demand, growth in Tier II cities, and capital-market maturity,” said Munot. He added that flex operators are already fulfilling 14% of national office demand with occupancy levels above 80%.

Looking ahead, UrbanWrk is betting big on next-gen users. “Gen Z values sustainability, design, and wellness—and we’re building around that,” Munot said. Future UrbanWrk centres will emphasise green building certifications, low-carbon materials, ergonomic layouts, and app-driven customisation. The goal? To create flexible, inspiring spaces that evolve with the workforce.

With demand surging and expectations rising, UrbanWrk’s unique blend of design, tech, and sustainability may be the blueprint for future work in India.
