India’s Global Capability Centres Poised for USD 105 Billion Growth by 2030

India’s Global Capability Centres (GCCs) are set to reach USD 105 billion by 2030, employing 2.8 million professionals. With 1,700 GCCs generating USD 64.6 billion, India is driving digital transformation, AI innovation, and business development, solidifying its role as a global enterprise operations hub.

India’s thriving Global Capability Centre (GCC) sector is set to witness a massive expansion, reaching USD 105 billion by 2030. Union Labour Secretary Sumita Dawra highlighted this growth trajectory during a Tuesday’s visit from an International Labour Organization (ILO) delegation led by ILO Director-General Gilbert F. Houngbo at HSBC’s GCC in Gurugram. India houses over 1,700 GCCs, employs 1.9 million professionals and generates USD 64.6 billion in revenue.

“The sector is projected to expand to USD 105 billion by 2030, with around 2,400 GCCs employing over 2.8 million people, solidifying India’s role as a global hub for enterprise operations and innovation,” Dawra stated. The key hubs driving this growth include Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Mumbai, and the National Capital Region (NCR).

India’s competitive edge lies in its vast and diverse talent pool, which is fueling innovation and business development. Houngbo noted that the rapid proliferation of GCCs in emerging fields like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and semiconductors marks a significant industry trend. With 40% of digital transformation projects now centred in Indian GCCs, the country is fast becoming a key player in delivering high-value, technology-driven solutions.

A notable shift occurs within the sector as GCCs transition from traditional data processing to knowledge-driven services. Companies from Germany, the UK, Japan, and Nordic countries are increasingly setting up their GCCs in India, further diversifying operations and elevating service offerings.

In addition to economic growth, the rise of GCCs has contributed significantly to job creation, technology transfer, and skill development. Adopting hybrid work models, a focus on diversity, and industry-academia collaborations are equipping professionals with expertise in AI, cybersecurity, and blockchain, making India an emerging innovation powerhouse.

As India continues to attract global enterprises, its GCC ecosystem is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of enterprise operations, solidifying its position as a global leader in business transformation and technological innovation.
