Kerala CM Inaugurates ‘i by Infopark’: State’s First Neurodiversity-Friendly Coworking Hub

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated ‘i by Infopark,’ a premium 48,000 sq. ft. coworking space at Ernakulam South Metro Station, creating 550 jobs. Designed as the state’s first neurodiversity-friendly workspace, it blends inclusive design, modern amenities, and top connectivity—marking a new milestone in Kerala’s evolving IT and coworking ecosystem.

A New Chapter for Kerala’s IT and Coworking Ecosystem

Kerala’s coworking landscape took a transformative step forward as Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated ‘i by Infopark,’ a premium, neurodiversity-friendly coworking facility located at the Ernakulam South Metro Station. Spread across 48,000 square feet and operating across seven floors, the centre is designed to accommodate over 550 professionals and redefine the state’s approach to flexible workspaces.

“This initiative marks a new milestone for Kerala’s IT sector,” said the Chief Minister during the virtual inauguration, as he handed over the permission certificate to Tony G. Thomas, Co-founder of Zoho Corporation, the first company to start operations at the new facility.

Blending Connectivity, Accessibility, and Design

Strategically located near Ernakulam Junction Railway Station and the KSRTC bus stand, ‘i by Infopark’ leverages Kerala’s most well-connected transit hub. The facility features 580 workstations, meeting and conference rooms, event and training spaces, a collaborative lounge, pantry, and dedicated phone booths, offering a true plug-and-play experience for freelancers, startups, and large enterprises alike.

According to Susanth Kurunthil, CEO of Infopark and Cyberpark, the project reflects the state’s focus on “creating inclusive, future-ready workspaces that combine design, accessibility, and innovation.”

India’s First Neurodiversity-Friendly Coworking Design

‘i by Infopark’ stands out as Kerala’s first neurodiversity-friendly coworking space, thoughtfully built to support professionals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, and dyslexia. Each floor is designed to engage a specific human sense—sight, taste, smell, touch, and hearing—through specialised textures, colours, and materials that foster comfort and concentration.

The third floor, for example, features calming wallpapers and tiles focused on visual comfort (‘sight’). In contrast, other floors incorporate sensory cues, such as smell or touch, to create an inclusive environment. This design-first approach highlights Kerala’s progressive vision for workplace inclusivity and accessibility.

A Flagship for Future Expansion

‘i by Infopark’ officially launched during ‘ReCode Kerala Vision 2031,’ a seminar organised by the state’s Electronics and IT Department at the KINFRA International Convention Centre in Kakkanad. The event was presided over by Minister for Industries, Law and Coir, P. Rajeeve, and attended by key policymakers, including P.V. Sreenijin, MLA, and Kochi Mayor M. Anilkumar.

With its forward-looking concept and premium facilities, the space is expected to attract freelancers, gig workers, IT firms, and global capability centres. The IT Department has also announced plans to expand this model across other cities in Kerala, positioning the state as a rising hub for innovation and inclusive design in the coworking industry.

Kerala’s Vision for the Future of Work

‘i by Infopark’ represents more than just a new coworking space—it’s a reflection of Kerala’s long-term vision to integrate technology, inclusivity, and sustainability into its workspace development. With its blend of accessibility, neurodiversity-friendly design, and prime location, the hub sets a new benchmark for how coworking spaces can empower diverse talent and redefine modern work in India.
