Swiggy Moves into ₹1.6 Crore-a-Month Gurgaon Office, Formerly Occupied by Zomato

Swiggy Moves into ₹1.6 Crore-a-Month Gurgaon Office, Formerly Occupied by Zomato

Swiggy has shifted to a new office in DLF One Horizon, Gurgaon, a prime location that was once Zomato’s headquarters. The move was confirmed by Swiggy’s Surendhar Kumar on LinkedIn. Zomato vacated the space in 2018; meanwhile, Swiggy faces financial pressure, reporting a ₹799 crore net loss in Q3.

Food delivery and quick commerce giant Swiggy has established a new office at DLF One Horizon, Gurgaon, marking a strategic expansion in a high-profile business district. Surendhar Kumar, Swiggy’s Head of Administration and Procurement, shared the news in a LinkedIn post, stating, “Just moved! Check out our new office at DLF – One Horizon, Gurgaon!”

DLF One Horizon houses top companies like Apple India, Samsung India, Uber India, Z47, Elevation Capital, and Noise. Notably, Swiggy’s competitor, Zomato, previously occupied this location but moved out in 2018 due to high rental expenses.

In 2015, Zomato leased 1.2 lakh square feet of space at One Horizon, paying ₹135 per square foot per month, which added up to over ₹1.6 crore monthly. As per an earlier report, “The office space that Zomato rented was working out to be very expensive for them. So, they are relocating. The firm is also in talks with flexible office operators to move some operations there.”

Swiggy’s office shift comes when the company is dealing with financial pressures. A recent report highlighted that multiple startups, including Swiggy, are trading below their IPO prices. In Q3, Swiggy reported a net loss of ₹799 crore, mainly due to its increased investment in quick commerce amid rising competition.

Despite the losses, Swiggy had a strong IPO debut in November, listing at a 5.6% premium to its issue price of ₹390. This milestone made it one of the few Indian companies in the past decade with a public offering above ₹10,000 crore to open above its offer price.

Swiggy’s move into Gurgaon’s prime business district signals a focus on growth and expansion, even as competition in the sector escalates.
