Amazon has launched a 1.1 million sq ft office campus in Bengaluru, its second-largest in Asia, designed for over 7,000 employees. The development supports technology, operations, and payments teams while emphasising flexible workspaces and sustainability. The expansion reflects Amazon’s long-term investment strategy and India’s growing role as a global innovation hub.
Global technology companies continue to scale their presence in India through large-format office campuses, and Amazon has taken another major step with the launch of its new workplace facility in Bengaluru. The newly developed campus spans approximately 1.1 million square feet, making it the company’s second-largest office campus in Asia and reinforcing its long-term commitment to India’s expanding digital economy.
The 12-storey development has been designed to accommodate more than 7,000 employees across business verticals, including e-commerce, payments, technology, operations, and seller services. The project reflects the growing trend toward integrated campuses that enable enterprises to consolidate teams into collaborative, scalable environments.
Located roughly 15 kilometres from Kempegowda International Airport, the campus is strategically positioned to support workforce accessibility while connecting to Bengaluru’s broader technology ecosystem.
Part of Long-Term Investment in India’s Digital Infrastructure
Amazon stated that the new campus aligns with its long-term investment roadmap in India. The company has already invested over USD 40 billion in the country and has committed an additional USD 35 billion by 2030 to strengthen digital infrastructure, logistics, and technology capabilities.
During the inauguration, MB Patil, Karnataka’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, noted that Amazon’s expansion highlights India’s growing importance as a global innovation and employment hub. Large-scale office campuses, he emphasised, contribute significantly to local economic ecosystems while creating high-value jobs.
Flexible Workplace Design Supporting Collaboration
The campus layout reflects evolving workplace strategies that prioritise flexibility and collaboration. Workspace areas are organised into self-sustaining neighbourhood formats, allowing teams to work in agile clusters. The facility includes meeting rooms, breakout zones, collaborative huddle spaces, and event areas that can accommodate more than 200 people.
According to Samir Kumar, Country Manager at Amazon India, Bengaluru continues to play a central role in Amazon’s innovation journey, with the city hosting some of the company’s earliest technology and business teams.
This design approach mirrors a broader shift across enterprise workplaces, where hybrid collaboration and cross-functional workflows are influencing real estate planning decisions.
Employee Wellbeing and Experience at the Core
Modern workplace environments increasingly integrate wellness infrastructure, and Amazon’s new campus reflects this trend. The facility includes recreational amenities such as basketball and pickleball courts, landscaped outdoor spaces, and an amphitheatre for community events. Two large cafeterias offering global cuisines further support employee engagement and experience.
