CBRE Commands More Than Half of India’s Real Estate Investment Sales Market in H1 2026

CBRE Commands More Than Half of India’s Real Estate Investment Sales Market in H1 2026

CBRE secured a 55% share of India’s commercial real estate investment sales market in H1 2026, according to MSCI Real Assets. The firm led development site transactions with 77% and residential assets with 100%. Globally, CBRE retained the top investment sales position, reflecting strong activity across India and Asia Pacific.

CBRE emerged as India’s leading commercial real estate investment sales firm in the first half of 2026, accounting for 55% of the market across property types, according to MSCI Real Assets. The performance places the global real estate services company at the centre of India’s investment activity as capital continues to move across development, residential and other real estate segments.

The result is particularly significant for the wider commercial real estate ecosystem, where investment flows influence development pipelines, asset repositioning and demand for professional real estate services. For flexible workspace and office operators, strong investment activity can also shape the availability and quality of institutional-grade assets entering the market.

Strong Position Across Key Asset Classes

CBRE’s performance extended beyond its overall market share. The company captured 77% of investment sales involving development sites in India during H1 2026. It also recorded a 100% share of apartment and residential asset investment sales tracked by MSCI Real Assets.

These figures highlight the breadth of CBRE’s capital markets platform at a time when investors are assessing opportunities across multiple real estate categories. Development sites, in particular, remain important to the future supply pipeline, while residential investment continues to form a major part of India’s broader real estate landscape.

“Commanding more than half of India’s investment sales market is a strong signal of the confidence investors continue to place in CBRE,” said Anshuman Magazine, Chairman and CEO, India, South-East Asia, Middle East and Africa, CBRE.

Investment Momentum Extends Beyond India

CBRE’s H1 2026 performance was not limited to the Indian market. Globally, the company retained the No. 1 position for commercial real estate investment sales, with a 23% market share.

In Asia Pacific, CBRE also ranked first, recording a 33% market share. The company held a 1,100-basis-point lead over its nearest competitor and also ranked No. 1 in Australia, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, New Zealand and Thailand.

The regional performance underscores the scale of CBRE’s investment sales network and its role in connecting institutional capital with real estate opportunities across major markets.

What It Means for India’s Real Estate Market

CBRE expects investment activity to maintain momentum through the second half of 2026. “Our leadership reflects where and how we see the strongest capital flows in India today, and we expect that momentum to continue through the second half of 2026,” Magazine said.

CBRE has operated in India since 1994 and now has more than 13,000 professionals across 17 offices, with a presence in more than 100 cities. Its services span capital markets, leasing, valuations, strategic consulting, project management, property management and workplace solutions.

For India’s commercial real estate sector, the latest investment sales data points to continued institutional participation and an active capital markets environment. As investors pursue opportunities across asset classes, transaction activity is likely to remain an important indicator of where India’s real estate market is heading in the second half of 2026.
