WTC Tower Boosts Visakhapatnam’s MedTech Startup Ecosystem

The World Trade Centre (WTC) Tower, newly launched within the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) in Visakhapatnam, is set to transform healthcare innovation in India. By doubling the capacity of MedTech startups and offering advanced support facilities, this development is positioning Visakhapatnam as a central hub for global MedTech progress.

Landmark Expansion for Healthcare Innovation

The operationalisation of the WTC Tower, spanning 1 lakh sq. ft., provides state-of-the-art laboratories, co-working spaces, and zones for creative activity. These resources will help MedTech startups with research, prototyping, and commercialisation, significantly enhancing Andhra Pradesh’s healthcare innovation capabilities.

MediValley Set to Double Startup Numbers

AIC-AMTZ MediValley, which anchors the WTC Tower, plans to scale up from 150 to 300 supported startups by fiscal year 2026. The initiative is spearheaded by Dr. Jitendra Sharma, who emphasises the new space’s ability to nurture and launch the next generation of MedTech leaders.

Integrated Ecosystem and Strategic Partnerships

Benefitting from its location in the 270-acre AMTZ campus, the ecosystem includes partnerships with IBSC, Biovalley, the upcoming MedTech University, IIM Visakhapatnam, and IIT Tirupati. This network supports startups with crucial testing, certification, and mentorship, enabling rapid development and market entry.

Startup Testimonials and Accolades

Entrepreneurs credit MediValley’s inclusive support—from mentorship to product testing facilities—for their accelerated growth and smoother commercialisation journeys. With 150 corporate partnerships, 50 academic tie-ups, and recognition such as NITI Aayog’s Best MedTech Incubator award, MediValley continues its leadership streak.

A Vision for Global MedTech Leadership

In addition to the WTC Tower, construction has begun on a new 50,000 sq. ft. incubation hub to meet rising demand. The initiative aligns with the Make-in-India mission and aims to establish MediValley and Visakhapatnam as global leaders in MedTech innovation.
